EP SERIES | Below - Hexahedron Series

Hexahedron is a series of EPs I've worked on over the course of four years. With my head stuck between many projects at the time I took it as an opportunity to experiment with new ways of writing and releasing smaller batches of music rather than creating full albums all the time. The title 'Hexahedron' laid the foundation of their production, leading to six entries with track numbers set upfront to mirror the hexahedron's vertices.

As a result, all six of them quickly became something of a personal diary, mirroring experiences I had over those four years, ranging from travels to places around the world, deaths of loved ones, becoming a father and the full-scale global pandemic that COVID caused. Each one is accompanied by a visual enhanced with a rough look to embed the feeling of passing moments those experiences are.

.sideA started with some material I've recorded in early 2018 near Orenburg, Russia. It's mostly inspired by the frozen landscapes, industrial sites and heartfelt warmth of the people living through the cold season.

The cover art is based on a photo taken during a walk through the icey fields.

The second part of the Hexahedron EP series. Partially recorded in Westkapelle, Netherlands, inspired by personal events that lead me there.

The cover shows a picture of the beach where my dad's funeral took place.

By the third EP the series slowly became a very personal affair - to the point that they started to feel like personal diaries when listening back to them. This time all tracks were mostly recorded back home again, without any traveling involved as my daughter - featured on the cover art - was born during the time.

The fourth EP in the Hexahedron series had me traveling again, continuing the diary the previous releases had become. It was recorded in Montpellier, Amsterdam and at home. The cover photo was taken during a little night trip through the city of Montpellier. It turned out quite blurry and fit the theme of passing moments well.

This entry happened during the pandemic and - though not necessarily caused by it -became what feels to me like the darkest part of the series, containing a little story in itself, told via the music and track titles. The cover photo was taken during sunset in our  completely empty neighbourhood and to me fits the tone the beginning of a journey into the dark.

The final release in the series was a rather quick affair. Produced in a super fast creative burst in the studio it featured a music video for the track 'Hypertexture' and marked the point  here I decided to release all of them together as a full album on all streaming services for  wider accessibility. The artwork for both the album and the EP is taken straight from the hi-res video footage.
